HIV/AIDS Work Place Intervention Programme
Commited to containing the spread of HIV/AIDS in India, SNS Foundation intervened through prevention activities in various locations of India ,addressing multiple strata of the society in both rural and urban regions .State Government departments, namely of Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana , supported the SNSF projects to address this challenge. There are considerable acknowledgements of the achievements in this particular field. One of the numerous benchmarks is the UNAIDS award that we received on Dec 1, 2006 for the efforts made in the Work Place Intervention program that was intervened for the Industrial Workforce of MNC's of MARG (Mutual Aid Response Group) Industries, Mumbai. Creating awareness through group meetings, individual meetings, counseling, health camps and clinics, establishment of white box ( condom outlets), condom vending machines were the thrust areas of intervention. The efforts resulted in creating awareness among 9000 workforce of identified 56 industries. Five companies have initiated the activities related to work place policy. “Pink Program – a program designed for addressing female health issues” has been identified as best practice.
