Drinking Water Support Programme
SNS Foundation, Nasik undertook construction of 3 field ponds in Pangulghar, Sadadpana and Kakadpana villages and cleaning of 2 wells in Kakadpana and Kasuli village of Trimbakeshawar block. These interventions directly benefited 1889 households each with an average family size of 6. These were successfully completed with full involvement and participation of the local tribal community. The wells, which were dry during summers have now water and along with the three ponds the villagers have enough water for drinking, for irrigation and cattle.
Vermicomposting
Village women who have free access to waste including cow dung are trained in vermi composting. This organic manure once ready is either used in their own land where they are doing organic farming, another initiative of the Foundation, or is sold to other organic farmers. Initial worms being given by the Foundation, they multiply fast enough that the women then sell these worms as well.
A major success of this programme include forming of more than 200 SHGs, 70% of which are Bank linked.
