Project Jivica - Tsunami Rehabilitation Initiatives
SNS Foundation in partnership with Heifer International developed a project for providing sustainable livelihood and rehabilitation to the tsunami affected people through a local specific, need based, women focused livestock promotional programme. Besides providing alternate income to the women of the affected communities, also promoted community participation in rebuilding the community to a sustainable level. The project covered 500 of the affected families from the tsunami affected villages of Thiyagavalli Panchayat, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu.

DRDA – Self Help Group Project In Peth & Trimbakeshwar Block, Nashik, Maharashtra
Since August, 2005 SNSF Nasik is implementing a project with the financial support from District Rural development Agency focusing on formation of 240 Self Help Group in Peth block, and 100 Self Help Group in Trimbakeshwar block of Nasik District. SNSF with the active involvement of the community has facilitated the formation of 340 SHGs. These
SHGS have intiated goatery keeping, setting up of grocery shops, sale of roof tiles, fertilizer sale outlets, floor mill, preparing ayurvedic medicinal products, and dairy business. This has resulted in increase in the family income leading to better education of their children, availing of health services, greater gender equality in families, greater decision making power to women.

Agriculture - Women SHG Project, Nashik
SNS Foundation, Nasik undertook construction of 3 field ponds in Pangulghar, Sadadpana and Kakadpana villages and cleaning of 2 wells in Kakadpana and Kasuli village of Trimbakeshawar block. These interventions directly benefited 1889 households each with an average family size of 6. These were successfully completed with full involvement and participation of the local tribal community. The wells, which were dry during summers have now water and along with the three ponds the villagers have enough water for drinking, for irrigation and cattle.
