Life Enrichment Programme II

Life Enrichment (LE) is an approach aimed at ‘Building capacity of employees and workers to collectively assume responsibility to set bench marks for Safety, Health, Environmental and Legal Compliances at their work-places’. LE interventions form the foundation for the holistic wellbeing of the work-force, at project sites and offices so that they have access to facilities and services that accords the highest importance to life. Captured in the adage, “Minimum Is Not Maximum”,   Life Enrichment institutionalizes work-place standards through enhancing its Environment, Health, Safety, and legal (EHSL) practices at policy and site level. It also minimizes the gap between precept (stated policy) and practice (sustained actions) leading to strengthening of ‘life-first’ culture.

LE aims at setting monitoring and auditing of work-place practices on ground and imparting knowledge, attitude, skills and behavior change tools using a mentoring approach by trained mentors Ambassadors and Peer educators. This generates a spirit of competition to not just excel but make significant contribution to quality of individual lives.

This approach maximizes output efficiency and lends a human face to the growth and expansion of one’s business as a natural spin-off benefit.   The tendency to plan workplace intervention programmes around ‘work-first’ culture with disregard for ‘life-first’ culture, clearly accords a secondary place to the most precious of our resources – human beings. The approach becomes even more relevant as business leadership in the present times are  called upon to create new age innovative solutions to combat challenges of   unrest and violence among the youth, disrespect for culture and human life, social and religious diversity and so on.

Peaceful co-existence may not be a far fetched dream if we make a conscious and collective effort to make our approach towards life and work more holistic. At the same time it is important to understand that human life is an evolution of consciousness and to facilitate this growth, physical efforts and contribution back to the rest of the humanity through hard work are important factors. Hence, an integrated approach giving great importance to work as an integral driving force that strengthen self-identity needs to be adopted.
