JIVICA

Vocational training and Life Skills Programs have been central to the community development initiatives undertaken by the SNS Foundation over the years. The Foundation has touched the lives of thousands of women and underprivileged youth across the country with these sustainable livelihood programs.


Vocational Centre for Youth at Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh

At this vocational centre the four major courses offered are- Electrical, Electronics, Computer Education and Beauty Culture. The first three courses are 1 year courses affiliated to the Government Polytechnic under the Community Development Cell. A total of 168 students completed their course from this centre in 2008, after which nearly 85% of them were absorbed in either a company or an institute. Some of them have become self employed by starting their own unit.


Vocational Educational Program for Adolescent Girls

The SNS Foundation has been providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to the underprivileged sections of society. This is done through various vocational skill development programs at very affordable charges. This is a complimentary program for students who received primary and middle school education from the SNS Foundation. These students are provided vocation training in computers, tailoring and dress designing, fashion designing, beauty culture, nursery teacher training, jewellery making, personality development and life skills at the various vocational education centres of the SNS Foundation.

Life Skills Intervention

Life skills oriented action learning is aimed at initiating and accelerating the process of holistic empowerment over the entire lifecycle of adolescents into adulthood. We envision communities where young people are seen as assets and resources, solutions rather than problems and thus are encouraged to develop their full potential to be educated, informed, healthy, responsible, active and valued citizens in their communities and societies.
